MOUNT WARNING: The highest mountain in Northern New South Wales. An easy 4 hour (round-trip) climb for the inexperienced bush walker. Spectacular views from the summit from the hinterland to the coast. BYRON BAY: A 30 minute drive south through beautiful scenery. Byron Bay is the most easterly point in Australia and has a reputation for being "alternative". Walking tracks take you to the historic lighthouse where whales are sighted migrating twice yearly. A popular surfing beach for surfers from all over the world. COASTAL VILLAGES: Pottsville Beach is amongst many quaint villages dotted along the coast of New South Wales. Kingscliff (10 minute drive north) is a popular area for the "gourmets" boasting a large number of restaurants with a variety of cuisines. Cabarita, Bogangar and Hastings Point are also well known surfing locations. FISHING: Surf and estuary fishing are popular pastimes for locals and tourists alike. Mud crabs can be caught during the warmer months of the year at your back door (crab pots are supplied). |
